DARLEY
ABBEY WALK
This
splendid walk combines beautiful mature parkland scenery with a great
sense of history, and the starting point for the Derwent Valley Mills
World Heritage Site and the National Heritage Corridor.
The
walk takes you through Darley Abbey Park with its wide range of
different tree species, to the historic village of Darley Abbey, at one
time the largest monastic settlement in Derbyshire. It was here that the
Boar’s Head Cotton Mill, now an important World Heritage Site, founded
by Walter Evans began production in 1783.
