TRANSPORT IN HOPE VALLEY & HIGH PEAK

THE FEATURE

Derbyshire and the Peak District have one of the best rural transport networks of bus and train services in Britain providing access to all the towns, many of the rural villages and most of the county’s top visitor attractions. The Hope Valley and High Peak Transport Partnership (HVHPTP) is a consortium of local authorities, transport providers, community groups and businesses which share the common aims of promoting and enhancing public transport services in the Hope Valley and High Peak areas of Derbyshire.

Travelling around the area by bus or train means you can relax, whilst somebody else does the driving.  With just a little planning, by travelling by public transport, walkers will discover countless opportunities for interesting walks, avoiding the need to return to a car park!

The use of public transport reduces congestion in the Peak District National Park and helps to preserve the precious landscape. If you usually travel by car, then why not relax and help safeguard the countryside by using the bus or train.  All the walks on this website start from a town or village making the use of public transport an easy option.

For information about travelling to the Hope Valley and High Peak by train or bus to enjoy the area's beautiful countryside and great family attractions, visit The Hope Valley and High Peak Transport Partnership website at www.hvhptp.org.uk. The site is also of use to people who live in the Hope Valley and High Peak areas and want to find out more about local public transport services. In addition there is a Special Events page, where you can find out about the planned activities programme, including Folk Trains and Guided Walks. Also look out for the new Folk Train on the Buxton Line to Whaley Bridge.
