THE PEAK DISTRICT AND DERBYSHIRE

Visitors are attracted to the Peak National Park both by the rugged scenery and natural beauty of the gritstone Dark Peak, and the the more gentle limestone White Peak with its lovely river valleys. So much so that over 22 million people visit the National Park each year. Only one other National Park in the world receives more.

The Peak District and Derbyshire have many wonderful places to visit, from peaceful villages to busy market towns. To stately homes like Chatsworth House, 'The Palace of the Peak' and further south the National Trust Properties of Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and Sudbury Hall.

For those seeking a little more adventure there are the 'white knuckle rides' at  Alton Towers and American Adventure. Many more attractions are listed on the attraction pages on this website - click here to find out more.

ACCOMMODATION

Although many visitors stay for the day only, lots more both from home and abroad holiday in the Peak National Park and the surrounding area.

In fact more and more day visitors are now realising that their visits can be made even more enjoyable, if they take a short break and avoid a tiring journey home on the same day that they arrive. There is a wide variety of accommodation available to suit all tastes. Click here for more information.
