YOUTH HOSTELS

PEAK DISTRICT AND DERBYSHIRE

THE FEATURE

The Youth Hostels Association is a  registered charity, operating a network of 227 Youth hostels across England and Wales. Members receive a warm welcome, comfortable accommodation, good food all at affordable prices. For a nominal fee anyone of whatever age can join the YHA, and enjoy the discounts and benefits available.

Hostels vary in the type of accommodation they offer, from the comfort of an en suite room to more basic facilities. You can be assured of wherever you stay of a friendly, informal atmosphere. Whether you want the comfort of an en suite room, or more basic facilities, there's somewhere for you.

Hartington Hall a magnificent17th century manor house, is one of the YHA'S four star youth hostels. It has recently been refurbished to a high standard, en-suite bedrooms are available, breakfasts, picnic lunches and evening meals. You might even sleep in the bedroom, where Bonnie Prince Charlie once slept.

If  you enjoy visiting the countryside and have not visited a youth hostel before, you may well be surprised at the range and quality of accommodation on offer. Check out the YHA website, for further information.

LOCALLY SOURCED FOOD

In the Peak District, the local youth hostels have been carrying out some research to see if it is possible to source the food they give to their guests from local farmers and producers. This experiment has been so successful that the Youth Hostel Association plans to roll it out across 200 Youth Hostels in England and Wales.
